1934 ~  The Tribute of Life  ~  2018

Mrs. Carrie L. Hawkins Lee, 83, affectionately known as Jimmi, made her grand entrance on September 1, 1934 in Chatham County, NC to the late Calvin Sr. and Annie Wilson Hawkins and earned her wings on Tuesday, January 23, 2018 at her home in Clayton, NC.  She was one of 16 children.

A celebration of life memorial service will be held on Sunday, January 28, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. at New Hill First Baptist Church, New Hill, NC.

Carrie attended Beryl-Kelly School before giving birth to her daughter, Carolyn. She went on to marry her Prince Charming, Clyde Lee and were united in holy matrimony for 51 years before God called him home. During their union, they resided in Philadelphia, PA where she worked at Sea Gull Lighting Co. Once the family returned to NC, Carrie went on to work at Tater Biscuit Co., Lufkin, Apex Elementary School, and Morrison Rest Home, where she eventually retired.

Throughout the years, Carrie cared for countless people and became a matriarch to the New Hill Community. Everyone who knew Carrie knew that she loved to cook, clean, and garden.

She faithfully attended New Hill First Baptist Church until her health declined, but she never stopped serving God. She honored her commitment and cared for her husband until he departed. Anyone who crossed paths with her were left with a memorable impression of such a beautiful soul.

Carrie leaves to cherish her precious memories: daughter, Carolyn Hawkins of the home; ‘honorary children, Raymond Edmonds (Charlotte), Deborah Miles, Jeanette Lee, Jackie McDougald, Hazel Ray (Rickie), Molly Sellers (Raymond), and Chinita Judd; Grandchildren, C. Maurice Daniels and Raymeshia Roberts (Billy); Great grandchildren, Ryan, Arianna, Miyah, Amya, Aaliyah, Henry, Gabriel, Ashanti, and Amina.  She also leaves behind one surviving brother and the last sibling of the Hawkins union, Bobby Hawkins (Sharlene); and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
