1941  ~  The Tribute of Life  ~  2020


Mrs. Alma Ruth Hopkins Dillard, 79, of Zebulon, NC, departed this life on Friday, November 13, 2020, at Zebulon Rehabilitation Center in Zebulon, NC.


A celebration of life service will be held on Thursday, November 19, 2020 – 11:00 a.m., at Zion Spring Memorial Gardens, State Road 1718 Dead Road, Bunn, NC.  Mrs. Dillard will lie in state from 10:30 a.m. until the start of the service.  General Bishop Alton A. Smith, Officiant/Eulogist.


Mother Alma Ruth Hopkins Dillard, was born on May 21, 1941, to the late Deacon William Buster Hopkins and Mother Alma Crudup Hopkins.  She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Odell, James, and John Hopkins; and sisters, Betty Dunston and Carol Brown.


Alma graduated from Gethsemane High School in Bunn, NC in 1961and at an early age, she moved to Philadelphia, PA, where she worked as a nurse at Roxborough Memorial Hospital.  She later moved back home in 1992, to help take care of her parents and to help raise her two grandsons, Dezmond and Dillon, who she truly loved very much as if she was their mother. 


Alma was a faithful member of Zion Spring Church of Christ, Disciples of Christ and served on the Mother’s Board, Pastor’s Aide President, Senior Women’s Choir, to name a few, until her health failed.  One of the things she loved to do was to go shopping.


Alma leaves to cherish her precious memories; her son, Myron A. Hopkins (Deirdre); two grandsons, Dezmond D. Hopkins and Dillon E. Hopkins; one brother, Willie Hopkins (Margaret); two sisters, Deloris Ann Hopkins and Darlene Mann; sister-in-law, Lena F. Hopkins; two special God-daughters, Shelley Brown Freeman and Danielle Maddox Geraldand a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
