1940 ~  The Tribute of Life  ~  2019

Mr. Bill was a very special friend to James and Karen and will be truly missed.  Please keep the Scott family in your prayers.

Mr. William Alonzo Scott, 79, of Clayton, NC, was born September 26, 1940 in Lexington, KY to the late Howard and Beulah (Maupins) Scott.  He departed this life on Tuesday, December 17, 2019, surrounded by his family.

A celebration of life service will be held on Saturday, December 21, 2019, at 3:00 p.m., Calvary Chapel Clayton, 510 W. Main St, Clayton, NC.  Pastor Kevin Edwards, Officiating/Eulogist.  Mr. Scott will lie in state from 2:00 p.m. until the start of the service.

Bill, as he was called by many, had a passion for cooking.  He learned the trade from both parents, and his father was the original grill master.  All who knew Bill well have had the opportunity to taste his cooking.  If you were close enough to him, he would teach you some cooking techniques or share a recipe or two.  He was a culinary whiz with such dishes as “spazagna”.  His father’s homemade hot pepper BBQ sauce sparked his love for spicy foods.  When he wasn’t cooking, he was entertaining family and friends.  He also had a passion for music and karate movies.

Bill had an infectious smile.  His sharp wit, sense of humor, and sarcasm cannot go without mention.  He opened his home to family and friends and his hospitality always made people feel at home.  He loved to share his knowledge of any and everything to whomever would listen.

On May 28, 2006, Bill gave his life to Christ.  He was baptized at Wilmington Beach in Wilmington, NC through Maranatha Fellowship located in Garner, NC.  In more recent years, he and his late wife Diane attended Calvary Chapel of Clayton.  Bill enjoyed the fellowship.  It has been said that he was a creature of habit.  He always sat in the same place when he came to worship.

Bill is preceded in death by his wife Diane (Ottley) Scott.  He leaves to cherish his precious memories; children, Howard Scott (Rhonda) of Benson, NC, Donna Scott Blythe (James) of Boston, MA,  Andre Tyrone Scott (Adriane) of Virginia Beach, VA, Wendell Ottley (Yolanda) of Durham, NC, Terrell Ottley (Jonea) of Raleigh, NC, Tanisha Shepard (Iziah) of Clayton, NC, and Shtorri Ottley (Lillie) of Winston-Salem, NC; grandchildren, Summer, Autumn, Anthony, Alonzo, Julian, Deonte, Jalil, Amiri, Deonna, Kiera, Ariel, and Elijah; eight great-grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends who loved and will miss him dearly.
