Deacon Roland Anthony Taylor, 82, of La Grange, NC, peacefully departed this life on Thursday, October 19, 2023 at Kitty Askins Hospice Center, Goldsboro, NC. Bishop J.E. Reddick, Pastor. Elder T.S. Ham, Eulogist.
Roland was born on June 2, 1941 to the late Paul and Martha Holloway Taylor in Wayne County. He was preceded in death by his parents and his only two sisters and their husbands, Pauline Taylor Lofton (Charles Lofton Sr.) and Gloria Taylor Burden (William Burden Sr.).
Roland graduated from Dillard High School in the Class of 1959. He served in the United States Army prior to being employed at Cherry Hospital for 30 years, where he retired. He was a member of Mt. Calvary FWB Church in La Grange, NC, where he served faithfully on the Deacon’s Ministry and the Choir until his health failed him.
Roland had a very quite spirit. He loved fishing, cooking, and grilling. He also loved being with his family and friends and will be truly missed.
Those left to cherish the precious memories of Roland include his wife of 43 years, Mother Dixie Hobbs Taylor; two sons, Bradley (Lisa) Flowers and Pete Couture; two grandchildren, William Boseman Jr. and Miesha Boseman; three great grandchildren; one brother, Leon Marshall; three brothers-in-law, Floyd (Rachel) Hobbs of Fremont NC, Linwood (Lorice) Worrells, and Nathaniel Hobbs of Goldsboro NC; six sisters-in-law, Evelyn Hobbs, Faye Hill, Diane Worrells, and Linda Hobbs, all of Goldsboro NC; Glenda (Ricky) Coley of VA, and Velma Hobbs of Greensboro, NC; two special cousins, Herbert and Robert (Mary) Hines of Goldsboro NC; a special nephew, William (Gloria) Burden Jr. of Goldsboro NC; and a host of other nieces, nephews, family, and friends.
Please keep Mother Dixie and the Taylor family in your prayers. "Earth has no sorrow that heaven cannot heal". Rest in Peace Cousin Roland.
