Mr. Matthew "Clay" Gene Sauls

Mr. Matthew “Clay” Sauls, 41, of Grifton, NC, peacefully passed away on Saturday, December 9, 2023, surrounded by his family and friends at home after a long battle with cancer. He was preceded in death by his mom, Pam Sauls; maternal grandmother, Grace Fulford; maternal grandfather, Gene Fulford, and his paternal grandfather, Howard Sauls.

He is survived by his wife, Andrea Sauls; Dad, Jimmy Sauls; paternal grandmother, Juanita Sauls; children, Carolina Sauls, Southie Sauls, Tera Odom, and Cameron Nichols (wife Taylor); and two wonderful grandchildren, Bryson and Huntley.  He was so proud of all his children and grandchildren and loved spending time with them. He loved hunting, fishing, camping, and hanging out with his friend John Loftin. John was an amazing friend and Clay thought of him as a brother.

The family will accept visitors at 5334 Hugo Church Rd., Grifton. There will be a memorial at a later date. If anyone would like to make a donation to the family, it can be sent to the same address or contact a member of the family.
