Virginia Clark Ihrie Maxwell, born in Wake County, NC in 1932 died at home in Pink Hill, NC on Monday, September 5, 2016. Having grown-up with her siblings working their family farm, she worked diligently for decades farming with her husband in addition to full-time jobs and parental responsibilities. Their farm has been in the Maxwell family for over 300 years. Ginny worked in Morehead City & Kinston prior to marrying J. Kenneth Maxwell. They wed 2 months from the day they met 59 years ago.

The mother of Elizabeth (Dennis Tracz) of the home, J. Kenneth, II (Renee) of Asheville, William E. of Sheridan, MT, and Virginia Lynne (David Nichols) of Louisa, VA, Ginny was the grandmother of Kathryn Pharr of Arlington, VA; Joan Pharr of Durham; Andrew Pharr of Brooklyn, NY; Christina Maxwell of Manhattan, NY; Calvert Maxwell of Raleigh; and Maxwell & Morgan Nichols of Louisa, VA.  

Preceded in death by her parents, a brother and a sister, she is survived two sisters and two brothers. A relative of Dr. Calvert’s, she lived with Dr. and Mrs. William Calvert of Jacksonville while an undergraduate at now JSU and graduated in 1954.

Home visitation will be Thursday, September 15, 2016. A celebratory memorial service will be at St. Mary’s Episcopal Church, Kinston, NC, Saturday, September 17, 2016 at 2:00 pm.
